Okay, hands up who knew Joan Collins had a beauty range? Please don't show me up here as I was clueless. Celebrity endorsements are not my thing, but then she is the queen of all things glamorous so I am hardly surprised. I've been trying a few bits from the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range recently, and I haven't been this excited to try a new brand out for a while now. Guess since has become Dame Joan I've just become a even bigger fan girl.
First up (pardon the pun) is the First Base foundation (£25) this is designed to be skin care in foundation form, and light on the skin. Includes Hyaluronic Acid (your guess is as good as mine..) & UV filters, plus paraben & fragrance free. First Base shades actually are divided into three types; cool, warm and neutral. So you can pick a colour that is a bit more adapted to your skin. And you know what? I really like this foundation. It blends perfectly without greasiness and gives a medium coverage yet it does feel lightweight. Some may not like that this dries to a powder finish, but I do as it saves me time in the mornings. Joan is definitely a lady after my own heart.
Next is the Compact Duo (£34) this little gold beauty includes the Meticulous Powder in Neutral and a Divine lipstick. The powder is a tad dark for my skin, but I do love the idea of being easily able to find 2 of the most important cosmetics without having to rummage at the bottom of my bag.
Up next is the Eyeshadow Quad (£25). Perfect for those with cooler skin tones, and to make blue eyes pop. I have neither, but the quality of these is very worth the money. Creamy and blend-able, just as you would expect from Miss Collins. And these mini palettes are ideal for when I am either in a rush, or often just too lazy to think about what colours to wear.
Lastly is the Brow and Eye Define Kit (£23). Joan Collins never has an eyebrow out of place, so this kit is no surprise in the collection. Very usefully including mini tweezers, an application brush, and a small grooming brush to tame the brows. The four powder shades including charcoal, natural, brown and pale pink. I do love when kits can do the whole brows; defining, setting and highlighting. Again, another time saver.
The entire Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range has such a luxe, YSL or Estee Lauder feel don't you think? (And you know I like a bit of gold) The prices do reflect the luxurious feel, but they would make good presents and wouldn't look out of place next to their high end counterparts. And well, every makeup bag does need a bit of glamour...
